13-Apr-2011 Last Hours in Dubai

It was already morning when we arrived from late dinner at Chowking. Had our luggage ready for our next flight to Zurich and went to bed. I had been sleeping for only an hour or two maybe when Mon woke me up. It was roughly 3-3:30 am in the morning. He didn’t look good, a bit shaky and shivering... He said he felt cold and chillin' all over his body… I checked on him and he has red spots all over his body… body temperature was 38.7.

I was suddenly in a panic mode... nervous… looked like an allergy but I couldn’t really tell. I was in a position when I really didn’t know what to do... our flight would be in a few hours. I grabbed 2 sticks of sugar in the tea tray and asked him to eat those hoping that it might help if it’s an allergy.

I was thinking, should I call Angelo, Noel’s bro… I think I heard that he’s a nurse.. he might be able to help me take Mon in the hospital… We have Biogesic in our luggage but I was thinking if that would help. I asked Mon to take it and observed him afterwards. After 30 minutes, I checked his temperature and it had gone up to 39.6 degC … making me more nervous thinking how could he have high fever just like that. I wonder what he had eaten. Could he have some infection inside?

I asked Mon how’s he and if he could still make it to the next flight… Maybe, we could just cancel the next leg of our trip. However, he said to still go and he’ll try. I tried to relax… I just asked him to sleep... to get rest till the morning while I’m tidying up our things. I took a shower and woke up Justin; asked him to get ready first before his Dad, as his Dad was sick and would need to sleep in. Justin was very understanding, got up and took a shower.

After a few hours, Mon temperature improved… not completely well yet, but managed to get up and be ready for the next flight.

In the airport, we went to Medical Section but it seems that the said place was for emergency section only, not a single doctor in there. There were 2 nurses who attended us and got his temperature and just advise us to continue taking Paracetamol.

We stopped by in a café before heading to the gate for flight to Zurich, so he and Justin could have breakfast.
